“Moderately varied” is a good description for the first book of HCC’s Selected Works for Cello & Piano, which includes one of her most memorable pieces, “Morgenstandchen” or Morning Serenade, a carefree piece in 6/8 in A-B-A form with a slightly slower more “dolce” B section in 4 with an arpeggiated accompaniment in the piano. Also included in this volume are all six of her Idylls for Cello op.51.
