Violin

Helen’s pieces for the Violin are stylistically varied and intriguing in their conception. With subtle similarities to Bruch, Wagner Sibelius & R. Strauss, she might readily be regarded as a “post-Romantic“. She utilizes at times the standard forms of the past — i.e.: her violin sonatas which employ sonata allegro form (albeit it somewhat modified). Practically all her music conforms to a previously used form of presentation – rondo form, da capo aria, minuet and trio. But in all her pieces there remains a boldness, a uniqueness, an Americanism that is fresh and subtle, all the while giving us something that is truly her own voice.
